Report by Sports Cache Bait & Tackle
Water Level: Six inches below full pool.
Water Temperature: 72 degrees F.
Turbidity: Visibility 24 inches.
Fish Attractors: Not in service due to vandalism.
Fishing Pressure: Moderate through the week, heavy during weekends.
Channel Catfish: Good. Two 15-pounders reported this week caught at
night on green sunfish. Others report success using night crawlers, poultry liver or dough
bait.
Crappie: Good to excellent. Crappie are staging in several parts of
the lake and some males have turned black, their breeding color. Evenings and mornings
seem best and live minnows or jigs are the best baits. Most are small white crappie 6-7
inches in length.
Flathead Catfish: One 42-pounder reported this week. It was caught at
night on green sunfish.
Bluegill Sunfish: Good. Bluegills are abundant near shore and eagerly
taking bits of night crawler, crickets or small jigs and artificial baits.
Green Sunfish: Good. Sunfish are close to shore and taking
night-crawler bits, jigs, tiny lures and insects like mealworms. Most are small, but make
good bait for big flathead.
Common Carp: Good. Very few fishermen fish for carp, but large ones
are available to be caught. Fermented corn, dough baits and night-crawlers are useful
baits.
White Amur: None reported. Fermented corn is an excellent bait for
these fish. A few are taken on night crawlers.
